Insects and other creepy-crawlies

Small tortoiseshell butterfly (click to enlarge)

To get this photo opportunity I had to follow the butterfly all around the garden until it finally decided to rest on this flower!

Daddy Long Legs (click to enlarge)

We don't see as many Daddy Long Legs as we used to.

Spider (click to enlarge)

This spider doesn't seem to have mastered the art of spinning a web yet.

Hornet (click to enlarge)

This is a very rare Hornet that spent the day attached to our garage door. Persecuted to the brink of extinction by misguided humans, it is nearly an inch and a half long!

Wolf Spider (click to enlarge)

Okay, so this spider wasn't really outside. Luckily it was found on the laundry pile before the clothes were put in the wardrobe!
