Ibiza 2003
Days 1 to 3
This collection of pictures were taken at a small
bay around Racó Verd where there is a ship wreck,
parts of which have been washed up on shore at the bottom
of the cliff-face. While the divers explored the wreck
up close, Ian did a bit of snorkeling. We also did a bit
of falcon-watching; two falcons had a nest 50 feet up
the cliff face from where we dropped anchor. Unfortunately
the zoom on our camera wasn't enough to get a good picture
of them. The water depth averages about three metres around
most of the bay, so is easy for those that don't dive
to snorkel or swim. The area is also free from boat traffic
and is of sufficient size to allow you to open up the
throttle on the jet ski!
This is a picture of the rock formation known
as "The Haystack". Where the rock breaks the water's
surface the rock face has a near-vertical drop and provides divers
with an opportunity to see a variety of sea creatures.
For those not diving, there is plenty
of scenery to look at...
La Bassa is a perfect place to drop anchor
and have some lunch followed by a nice bit of sunbathing.
If you prefer to sun bathe on terra-firma you can swim ashore!
There are plenty of rock formations and small caves to explore
either on foot or by swimming. The bay is wide enough to do
jet skiing.
